Vitreo Retinal Surgery

Vitrectomy is surgery to remove some or all of the vitreous humor from the eye. Pars plana Vitrectomy is an operation accomplished in the deeper part of the eye, all of which involve removing some or all of the vitreous humor, the eye's clear internal jelly. Vitreo-retinal surgery is the surgical sub-specialty of ophthalmology that deals with surgical management of retinal and posterior segment diseases and disorders. Cataract surgery is the removal of the natural lens of the eye. Glaucoma is a group of diseases affecting the optic nerve that results in vision loss and is frequently characterized by raised intraocular pressure (IOP). Laser photocoagulation, or photocoagulation therapy, is the use of a laser to seal a retinal tear.
