Neurosurgery is the surgery of the nervous system. It is concerned with injury to or disorders of the brain, spinal cord and spinal column and peripheral nerves within all parts of the body. Neurosurgeons undertake operations for a wide range of conditions relating to central nervous system including,removal of brain, spinal and skull-based tumors,managing trauma to the head and spine,prolapsed discs and other degenerative spinal conditions,strokes,epilepsy,hydrocephalus and other disturbances of cerebro-spinal fluid flow.
Advances in neurosurgery, developments interventional radiology, microsurgical techniques and non-invasive techniques have seen surgeons increasingly working alongside professionals from other medical disciplines.
