General Surgery and Surgical Infection

General surgery requires a vast knowledge including this the general surgeons are also responsible for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patients with a wide range of diseases. Surgical infection also known as surgical site infection is a type of healthcare-associated infection in which a wound infection occurs after a surgery. Surgical infection may have pus draining from them, can be red, painful or hot to touch. Other types of infections that mainly affect a surgical patient are post-operative respiratory and urinary tract infection, bacteraemias and antibiotic-related diarrhoeas. About 5% patients undergoing a surgery develop a surgical infection.
